More Jubilympic giddyness..

I've finished another Union Jack cushion using less obvious fabrics this time.

I got really frugal with this one and used up the left overs for piecing the back, I also added a red, a white and a blue button to fasten it.

I'm also working on a tapestry type cross stitch Union Jack design which will most likely end up as a cushion too. Pictures as soon as I've finished it.

English Rose

Here is my finished piece for the Good Ol’ Summertime quilt swap.

005

It has been sitting in my wip pile for some time, I didn’t know what to do with it and was half thinking of making it into a cushion.

When I went through the ufo/wips last week it hit me it would be perfect for the swap, and I suddenly knew exactly how I wanted to finish it. Its amazing how quickly one can finish something when inspiration strikes.

It will be winging its way overseas early next week I hope my partner likes it.

Size: 16” square

Techniques: Patchwork, appliqué with satin stitch edging, quilting all done by machine.

Quilting - yes there is some

Having been asked to do a demonstration on machine applique and decided to make something from the samples rather than just have lots of them sitting around until the next demo request. It also gives me something finished to show which is small, but did i draw my design on paper? No don't be silly that would be the sensible think to do and I have never knowingly done anything sensible:) Long story short I forgot what I was going to make it but was much grander than the end result, I know this to be true as now that it is finished I remembered what my original intention was.... Anyway here is what I made -
It is actually a cushion but this is the best pic I have of it!
Yes I know it is pink and its hearts, but hearts are a good way to demo machine applique there are inny points, outy points and curves. And I have all that pink fabric left over from Charlotte's pink quilt, its got to go somewhere!
